R.I.P Diana Wynne Jones

You were beautiful, you created my childhood, you had such a large imagination.

A part of my childhood died today, I cried for a while.
Diana Wynne Jones created such wonderful stories such as Howl's Moving Castle, Enchanted Glass, The Chrestomanci series and many more marvelous tales.
She suffered from cancer and her suffering ended Sunday morning.
You will be missed, you were loved.

I'm still sad about her passing, but there are still a lot of books by her I have yet to discover, so it is like she is still here.

To Diana:
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight,
I am the soft starshine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
(Mary Frye)
You will live on in our memories and imaginations that have been inspired by your beautiful creations of literature. We will never forget you. Ever. May you rest in peace and happiness after giving so many children the inspiration to dream.

This piece is beautiful.
This woman was beautiful.
Although she has left this world,
Her wizards, witches, fantastic creatures and magical realms continue to live on in the stories she had woven...

... although I do wish she could've stayed around a little longer. :(

thank you.
It would have been nice if she was around still and no suffering, but I think all the stories she left us will keep her alive.

I just found out she passed away. And I always dreaded the day when that would happen, every since I first picked up The Lives of Christopher Chant. Her books are truly amazing, wonderful works.
For example, the Chrestomanci Chronicle was so amazing to me, I always wanted to revisit their worlds, all at once. And then I'd end up not being able to decide which to reread.

With every book she writes, a whole new, magical and beautiful world opens up. An unforgetable one that you never want to leave. ALL of them.

I really regret not being able to meet her. She seems like such an amazing person, in so many ways.
And now, with her passing, there will never be a sequel to anything again. Ever.
The books will forever stay where they are and never move forward now, which I feel is a pity and quite upset over.

Im sorry. It's just that- She was my favorite author and I REALLY needed to let it out somewhere. XD

Your portrait is wonderful. :')

that's alright, I understand
She does have one more book coming out this summer, she finished it before she passed
it is sad that we'll never have more stories from her, but she did write many wonderful and magical tales, and now we have a chance to go back and read them all over again and appreciate them more

thank you

I'm glad you made this. I've been really broken up over her death. Not only were her stories amazing, but I feel like she inspired me as a writer, and also as a person; she was always so insightful as to how and why people come to act in certain ways, and so realistic about how to get along in life, balancing generosity with self-preservation, learning when to hold people accountable and when to cut them some slack, and so on.

:) I'm going to post a Chrestomanci painting today. I had to make something to commemorate DWJ, so it's been my project of the past week or so.

She will most certainly be missed! Chestomanci's worlds really inspired me to continue my own writing. Glad that she is no longer in pain.
